Gathering for the Gospel
This year's "First Things" conference at the Moira Parish Centre is shaping up to be an extraordinary gathering for those passionate about the Gospel within the Church of Ireland. We're set to delve into the depths of our beliefs, share in fellowship, and explore paths for future growth and renewal. As we prepare for this pivotal event, we're thrilled to spotlight our keynote speakers, whose lives and ministries exemplify the Gospel's transformative power.
Most Revd Justin Badi Arama: A Testament to Faithful Leadership
Born in Maridi in 1964, Archbishop Justin Badi Arama's journey with the Anglican faith began at the tender age of 16. His story is one of devotion and steadfast commitment to the growth of the Church, both spiritually and communally. Having served as the Bishop of the Diocese of Maridi before he was elected Archbishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, his leadership is marked by a deep-rooted belief in the Gospel's power to transform lives. His life, adorned with the humble beginnings of receiving a Bible, a pen, and a hoe from his father, reflects a journey of service, leadership, and unwavering faith.
John McGinley: A Heart for the Church's Future
As the executive director of Myriad (A Church planting movement within the Church of England), John McGinley's vision for the Church is infectious, aiming to plant thousands of churches led by laypeople. His commitment extends beyond church planting; through his work with CCX, he fosters national and international collaboration to spread the Gospel's message. His latest book, The Church of Tomorrow: Being a Christ-Centred People in a Changing World, challenges us to see the current shifts in the Church not as a decline but as a rebirth, calling for a Church that is more diverse, spirit-filled, and Gospel-confident.
A Gathering of Hearts and Minds
As we gather at "First Things," we're not just attending another conference. We're joining a movement that seeks to realign our focus on the Gospel, drawing from the wisdom and courage of leaders like Archbishop Justin and John McGinley. Thus, we ask the question, what does God want to do among us today? That we might be a Church united in the Gospel sharing the good news of Jesus up and down the Island of Ireland, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and committed to the mission of Jesus Christ in word and deed in every corner of our island.
Will you join us? Will you be part of the conversation that seeks to navigate these changing times with a commitment to truth, the faith handed down, hope in Christ, and love of one another? Let's come together to share in this journey, learning from our speakers and one another, as we seek to be Christ-centred people in a changing world.
We look forward to welcoming you to "First Things" and embarking on this journey together. Please share this invitation with friends and family who share our passion for deepening their faith and impact on the evangelical mission. This is more than just a conference; it's a stepping stone to the Church's future, and your presence will make all the difference. You can get your ticket below:
